Who we are
Periscope Search Group ("PSG," "we," "us," or "our") is an executive search firm operating in Toronto, Montreal, Miami and New York. This policy explains what personal information we collect through periscopesearch.com, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
If you have a question about anything here, email info@periscopesearch.com or call (866) 330-5627.
Information you give us
We only collect what you type into a form or send to us directly. There are two forms on this site:
- Contact form: your name, email address, company and message.
- Candidate form: your name, email address, the role you are targeting, an optional note, and an optional resume file (PDF, Word or plain text, up to 8 MB).
- Email and phone: whatever you choose to include when you contact us directly.
A resume is the most sensitive thing this site handles. It typically contains your employment history, education, contact details and sometimes more. We ask you not to include information we do not need to represent you: government identification numbers, financial details, health information, or dates of birth.
Both forms include a hidden field that real people never see. It exists to catch automated spam. If it is filled in, the submission is discarded and nothing is stored.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, ours records basic technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, and the site or advertisement that referred you.
We use two third-party tags for this:
- Google Analytics, to understand which pages people read and how they arrive. We run it with Google's advertising cookies switched off, and Google does not retain your IP address, so it is used for audience measurement rather than to build advertising profiles.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag, which lets us measure how our LinkedIn posts and advertisements perform, and build audiences of people who have visited this site so we can show them relevant roles. LinkedIn processes this data under its own privacy policy.
Both tags only run on periscopesearch.com. They set cookies in your browser. If you would rather they did not, see “Your choices” below.
How we use your information
We use what we collect to:
- Respond to your enquiry.
- Assess your fit for current and future searches, and present you to clients where there is a match. We will always tell you before we share your resume with a named client.
- Keep you informed about opportunities that match your background.
- Understand which parts of this site are useful, and measure whether our LinkedIn activity reaches the right people.
- Meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not rent or share it with third-party marketers.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with parties that help us run the business, and only as far as they need it:
- Clients: with your knowledge, when we present you for a specific role.
- Wix, which hosts this website and stores form submissions on our behalf.
- Google and LinkedIn, in connection with the analytics tags described above.
- Professional advisers and authorities, where the law requires it.
Some of these providers operate outside your country, including in the United States, which means your information may be transferred and stored there.
How long we keep it
Candidate information is kept for as long as you may reasonably want to hear from us about opportunities, and we review it periodically. Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are kept for up to two years so we have a record of the conversation.
You can ask us to delete your information at any time by emailing info@periscopesearch.com, and we will do so unless we are legally required to keep it.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop contacting you. Email info@periscopesearch.com and we will respond within 30 days.
To limit the automatic collection described above:
- Install Google's opt-out browser add-on to stop Google Analytics.
- Adjust your LinkedIn advertising preferences in your LinkedIn account settings.
- Block or clear cookies in your browser settings, or use private browsing.
- Enable Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track in your browser, which we honour where your local law requires it.
If you are in Canada, you have rights under PIPEDA and, in Quebec, under Law 25, including the right to withdraw consent and to complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. If you are in the United States, your state may give you additional rights over access and deletion. We apply the same process to every request regardless of where you live.
Text messages
If you give us your phone number we may text you about a search. Consent, message frequency and how to opt out by replying STOP are covered separately in our SMS Terms & Privacy Policy.
Security
Form submissions travel over an encrypted connection and are stored in Wix's infrastructure. Access is limited to the people at PSG who need it. No system is perfectly secure, and we will tell you promptly if a breach affects your information.
Children
This site is aimed at working professionals. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Any change is reflected on this page with a new revision date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you directly.
